Nuzzle App: Every Feature Explained (Complete 2026 Guide)
The creature at the center
Everything in Nuzzle orbits one thing: a shared creature called the Nuzzle wisp, which belongs to both partners and reflects the state of their relationship through behavior, visual stage, and weather overlays.
The wisp grows through 7 evolution stages driven by relationship age:
| Stage | Relationship age |
|---|---|
| Egg | Day 1–6 |
| Hatchling | Week 1–4 |
| Baby | Month 1–3 |
| Adolescent | Month 3–6 |
| Adult | Month 6–12 |
| Elder | Year 1–2 |
| Legendary | Year 2+ |
Stages unlock by time, not by completing tasks. The creature also has a mood system (happy, excited, content, drowsy, sleeping) driven by how actively both partners are engaging, and two weather overlays:
- Storm — appears when engagement drops sharply or relationship health signals are low; represents tension or disconnection
- Fog — appears when the shared quest board has 5+ unclaimed items; represents practical overwhelm
The creature lives in the Nest — your shared decoration canvas — and wanders through whatever you’ve both placed there.
Daily engagement features
Daily check-in (Spark)
The entry point of the daily loop. Takes 15 seconds: log your mood with an emoji, set an energy level. When both partners check in within 60 seconds of each other, Soulmate Sync fires — a shared animation and bonus XP.
The check-in feeds your streak counter, the creature’s mood state, and the year heatmap.
Glow (love notes)
The highest-fidelity expression tool. A Glow is a love note — either from one of eight pre-written templates, a free-draw canvas, or a photo attachment. When your partner receives it, a full-screen arrival animation plays on their device. They can hold the Glow and react with an emoji. The full history lives in Glow History.
Pebbles
Micro-gifts that cost nothing but attention: a hug, a kiss, a note, a virtual flower. Pebbles accumulate into a Pebble Path with five visual tiers (5 → 15 → 30 → 50 → 100 pebbles). The path is a visible record of how much appreciation has moved between you.
Chat
Direct messaging with photo sharing and emoji reactions. Backed by Isar and synced via CRDT — works offline, no data on Nuzzle’s servers. Partners get a push notification on message receipt.
Shared home
Nest (decoration canvas)
A shared decoration canvas across four rendering layers: background, floor, wall, foreground. Both partners can place, move, and remove items. The creature wanders through the canvas.
Partner echoes — items your partner has touched recently display a 24-hour pulsing aura the next time you open the Nest, creating an ambient sense of their presence.
Seasonal drops arrive every 2–4 weeks with 2–4 new items. Every drop includes at least one couple-symbolic item — something that only makes sense for two people. Items outside their availability window are hidden in the shop unless you already own them.
Storage chest — items idle for 60+ days soft-hide into a chest. They’re never deleted; one tap restores them.
Cosmetics
The creature has four cosmetic slots (hat, accessory, aura, background) with 20+ items that unlock through use: streaks, care actions, gift counts, and level milestones. Premium subscribers access the full library, including seasonal exclusives.
Relationship tools
Quests (shared task board)
A shared chore coordination system framed as quests. Categories: cleaning, cooking, errands, admin, childcare, pet, general. Priority levels: low, normal, high, urgent. Status: open → claimed → completed → archived.
When 5+ quests pile up unclaimed, the fog overlay activates on the creature. Claiming quests begins to clear it.
Rituals
Custom recurring couple micro-rituals with push reminders. Daily, weekly, or monthly cadence. Both partners receive the reminder at their configured time. Completions earn XP and occasionally trigger seasonal nest item grants.
Countdowns
Shared timers to future events — a trip, an anniversary, a birthday. Both partners see the same countdown. Appears in the Us tab timeline as the date approaches.
Park (deferred notes)
Save a thought now, resurface it later. Low-friction note-taking for moments when sending a Glow isn’t right yet. Parked notes are private until you choose to share them.
Memory Jar
Shared written memories that accumulate over time. Shake your phone to surface a random memory. The randomness creates genuine discovery — finding something from 18 months ago you’d completely forgotten.
Games and connection tools
Tides (Q&A game)
Async turn-based game. Each partner answers questions about the other independently. Results reveal after both answer. Surfaces genuine knowledge gaps in a low-stakes format. Earns XP on completion.
Threads (monthly conversation starters)
Structured monthly conversation prompts with a claim/offer flow. One partner offers a thread, the other accepts and responds. Works asynchronously — no scheduling required.
Date Night (swipe to match)
Partners independently swipe through date idea cards. Mutual matches surface together. Removes “what do you want to do?” friction. Categories: adventure, cozy, creative, food, outdoor, free.
Conversation Decks
12 themed decks of 30+ cards each at 3 depth levels. Used in game sessions. Decks: Dreams & Goals, Money Talk, Family Ties, Intimacy & Desire, Nostalgia, What If, Bucket List, Stress & Support, Gratitude, Tough Conversations, Play & Humor, Legacy & Meaning.
Love Map
100+ relationship question bank across three categories: current stress, dreams, and preferences — at three depth levels. Each round earns the creature XP. Builds an ongoing picture of your partner’s inner world.
Phone Down
Coordinated device-free timer. Both partners agree simultaneously. Nuzzle uses the accelerometer to detect pick-up. Complete without breaking it and earn a Bloom achievement — a shared record that you put the phones down together.
Secret Match
Private swiping mechanic. Partners independently vote on scenarios or choices. Results reveal when both answer. Similar structure to Date Night but for decisions and preferences rather than activity planning.
Relationship health and insights
Health Dashboard
Relationship health metrics without clinical framing. Powered by an engine that aggregates feature events, engagement balance, streak data, and conflict signals. Includes Four Horsemen detection (contempt, criticism, defensiveness, stonewalling), storm/crisis mode with communication templates, and a pause signal.
”I Need a Moment”
A one-tap signal that sends your partner a calm, neutral notification that you need to step back. Timer starts. Both partners re-enter when ready. The digital equivalent of the physiological self-soothing break that Gottman research identifies as one of the most effective conflict de-escalation tools.
Introspection (monthly chapters)
Monthly AI-generated relationship chapters that arrive on the 3rd of each month via push notification. Each chapter includes themes from the month’s activity, reflection prompts, and a narrative summary derived from your shared feature events. Reads like a letter, not a dashboard.
Weekly Word / Weekly Whisper
Ambient weekly prompts surfaced as gentle nudges. Low-friction — they appear in context rather than demanding a specific interaction.
Bid System
Partners bid attention or energy on specific interaction types, creating an async contract for engagement. Both partners can see active bids. FCM notifies on bid receipt.
Relationship archive
Timeline
Scrollable chronological relationship history — photos, memories, milestones, and creature evolution events. The complete record of your shared world over time.
Year Heatmap
Day-by-day activity grid for the full calendar year. Every day with engagement registers as a colored cell. Gaps, dense stretches, and patterns become visible at a glance.
Couple Wrapped
Year-end recap in the Spotify Wrapped format: top moments, longest streak, feature usage, creature evolution highlights, year-end creature state. Shareable between partners.
Photos Album
Shared couple photo gallery. Partners can react per photo. Photos appear in the timeline and the creature memory album.
Engagement and retention systems (background)
These run invisibly — you won’t see them directly, but they shape the experience.
Engagement Balance Engine — tracks which partner initiates actions over time. Detects asymmetry. Triggers light nudges toward the lagging partner. Never shown as a score.
Smart Nudge Engine — generates contextual push reminders based on usage patterns, time of day, and engagement history. Not generic “come back” messages.
Challenge System — bite-sized engagement challenges generated contextually. Rewards are Stars.
Stars — the earned currency. Used for cosmetics and nest items. Never purchasable. No pay-to-win.
Streak system — daily check-in streak with longest-streak tracking. Breaks can be repaired. Shield temporarily pauses penalties during tough weeks.
Comeback Screen — welcome-back experience for users returning after 3+ days. Designed to re-anchor without guilt.
